THE IRISH ANKH
Symbol of Life

The Ankh is one of the most ancient symbols and was first used in Pre-Dynastic Egypt where it symbolised Life, and it is still one of the primary symbols of the Coptic church. Old monastic sites in the west of Ireland retain evidence of Coptic influence with the closely related Tau Cross being found at such sites as Dysert O'Dea and Killinaboy.
