This is one of three stones that have been carved in the style of the Early Celtic Period known as La Téne Art. It is situated outside of the castle of the Strange family and close by the river Suck to the south of the important ancient ritual centre of Cruachain. The other carved stones are found at Turoe about 30km to the south and Killycluggin in Cavan.
