Killamery High Cross
County Kilkenny

This is one of the most well preserved and at 3.65 meters is amongst the tallest in Ireland. Both faces of the cross are highly decorated with the east face bearing images of intertwined serpents from which it has gained the name of the “Snake – Dragon Cross”. The cross with sun circle is unique to Celtic Christianity and may relate to one of its most important elements, astronomy and navigation.
