At the very centre of the great Bruig na Boinne or Passage Mound of Newgrange is the central symbol of the ancient world, the Triple Spiral. It represents Triplicity, the essence of pre-christian spirituality and recurrs as a common theme throughout the Celtic era, surviving into the christian era as the Triskel, the image of the ‘holy trinity’.
